You have been involved in an auto accident. Your car has been demolished. Your insurance company offers to pay to have your auto repaired and to give you a rental car to use until it gets repaired. You are also assured by your insurance company that if the other driver is found to be at fault, they will get back the monies that they spent on fixing your car from the other driver’s insurance company. That sounds good to you especially if you are in the hospital recovering from the accident.
The facts are that the insurance company is taking advantage of you especially if you have a comprehensive policy that could be made to pay you for injuries if the other party is or is not found to be at fault. If you agree to allow your insurance company to fix your car, you will be turning over your rights to litigation to the insurance company which will leave them clear of paying you what you should be paid for your injuries.
If you get involved in an auto accident, don’t allow your insurance company to do anything until you talk to your lawyer and get him to agree or not to agree to the repairs on your car.
